Fire sprinkler systems. Why do we need them? According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA):

This immediate action can significantly slow the spread of fire, providing crucial time for occupants to evacuate and for emergency services to respond. The effectiveness of sprinkler systems in saving lives and reducing property damage is well-documented, making them a vital component in any fire safety strategy.
Technically, the way the sprinklers work, there is a very thin glass tube filled with liquid in the sprinkler head. The glass tube is between a flap and the sprinkler head, which holds back the water in the lines. When there is a fire, the heat expands the liquid in the tube causing it to break, releasing the flap that holds the water in the lines. All Saints Lutheran Church has a wooden interior structure with the possibility of open flames at times, and the possibility of an electrical surge, causing a fire. It is very important to have a sprinkler system throughout the campus to minimize the loss of life and damage a fire could cause.
